About The Brain Game

What is The Brain Game?
The Brain Game is an 84-page resource guide for parents and caregivers of children from birth to 36 months. Developed and recommended by physicians, it explains what’s happening in a child’s brain during each stage of the first three years and offers specific, hands-on activities you can do to help your child thrive.

Who is it for?
Parents, grandparents, and caregivers of children ages 0–3, whether you’re expecting your first child or raising your fourth! It’s written in plain, encouraging language, so you don’t need any background in child development to use it.

Why does the book focus on the first three years?
The first 36 months are the most critical window for brain development. In that time a child’s brain more than doubles in size and its “wiring” goes into high gear. Simple everyday interactions—talking, singing, playing music, reading together—have a lasting impact. The Brain Game shows you how to make the most of this irreplaceable window.

Do I need special toys or equipment to use it?
No. The activities rely on things you already do and already have. The book is built around simple, everyday moments—the goal is connection, not gadgets.

Who created The Brain Game?
The book was created through a collaborative community effort led by the Rotary Club of La Crosse, Wisconsin, with input from physicians and educators—because our children are our future.

For Parents & Caregivers

How do I get a copy?
You can order directly through our website, or buy online at Amazon. Some families also receive a free copy through a local hospital or organization that has partnered with a Rotary club to distribute the book to new parents.

Is the book available for free in my area?
It depends on whether a local club or organization is running a distribution project near you. If you received a copy from a hospital or agency, that’s the program at work. If not, you can order a copy anytime.

What ages does the book cover?
Birth through 36 months, organized so you can find guidance relevant to your child’s current stage.

Is the information medically sound?
Yes. The Brain Game was developed and recommended by physicians and reflects established understanding of early childhood brain development.

For Rotary Clubs & Organizations

Can our Rotary club adopt The Brain Game as a project?
Yes! Clubs are the heart of how the book reaches families. Your club fundraises to purchase copies and partners with a local hospital or human services organization to distribute them free to new parents and caregivers of children ages 0–3.

How does a club project work?
In short: introduce the project to your club, identify a local distribution partner, set a fundraising goal, raise the funds, order your books, and distribute them. We provide a full toolkit to guide you through each step.

What support materials do you provide?
A complete marketing toolkit including a PowerPoint presentation, brochure, sell sheets, folder, popup display, and business cards, all ready to download and use to introduce the project, recruit partners, and fundraise. (Note: we’ll provide the artwork files; you are responsible for printing the marketing materials).

Does this have to be a standalone project?
No. The Brain Game can be a signature club project or a bolt-on addition to programs you already run. It’s flexible enough to fit your club’s size, goals, and timeline.

Can organizations other than Rotary clubs get involved?
Absolutely. Hospital auxiliaries, agencies that serve families, health organizations, and community groups all make excellent partners or sponsors.

How many books do we need to order?
As many or as few as your project calls for. The project scales to your club, organization, or business, whether you’re funding 100 books or 1,000.

How much do books cost?
